US Special Operations Command Orders Four More MH-47Gs

US SPECIAL Operations Command has ordered an additional four MH-47G Chinooks.  A cost-plus-fixed-fee contract with a maximum value of $39,038,317 for finalisation of the deal for these new-build helicopters was awarded to Boeing on February 1.  This represents a modification to a previous cost-plus-fixed-fee contract.

The US Department of Defense said they are required to satisfy an urgent need to sustain US Special Operations Forces (SOF) heavy assault, rotary-wing aircraft in light of increased SOF operational demands. Fiscal year 2018 procurement, defence-wide funds of $15,817,890; plus fiscal year 2018 aircraft procurement, US Army, funds of $23,220,427 were released at the time of the contract modification award.
