GERMANY HAS deployed a tanker-configured Airbus A400M to Jordan to support the Luftwaffe Tornado aircraft already based there at Al Azraq Air Base on counter-Daesh missions. The aircraft, from the Luftwaffe’s Lufttransportgeschwader 62, left its base at Wunstorf yesterday, July 5, arriving in Jordan after dark late last night.
This marks the first operational deployment of a Luftwaffe or any other A400M in the tanker role. It will provide valuable experience as it is tested in its new operational mission over the next few weeks.
