SIKORSKY AIRCRAFT was awarded an $126,500,000 modification to a previously awarded fixed-price-incentive-firm target, cost-plus-fixed-fee contract by US Naval Air Systems Command today, February 13, to provide for long lead items in support of the low rate initial production (LRIP) of seven Lot III CH-53K King Stallion helicopters for the US Marine Corps. Work on the contract, which is financed by fiscal year 2018 aircraft procurement (Navy) funds, is expected to be completed in January 2019.
A contract for the initial two LRIP Lot I CH-53Ks had been awarded on August 31, 2017, with completion due in December 2021. Earlier, a contract for long-lead items to produce four LRIP Lot II CH-53Ks had been awarded on May 22, 2017, with completion due in March 2022. The USMC plans to acquire an eventual total of 200 of the type.
