ARGENTINA HAS achieved its first export order for the Fábrica Argentina de Aviones (FAdeA) IA-63 Pampa III. A $28 million contract for two of the domestically-manufactured Argentinian type for the Republic of Guatemala was signed on July 3 in the presence of senior officials from both countries. The deal also includes training and maintenance services.
The Pampa III will be used by the Fuerza Aérea Guatamalteca (FAG – Guatemalan Air Force) for pilot training and border counter-narcotics operations. They are in an identical configuration to those already in service with the Fuerza Aérea Argentina (FAA – Argentine Air Force) will be delivered in late November and early December of this year. Further orders for the FAG are anticipated next year.
