AIRBUS DEFENCE and Space is undertaking final assembly of the first A400M for Luxembourg. A joint Belgian and Luxembourg delegation visited the A400M final assembly line at Seville-San Pablo Airport, Spain, on April 30 to view progress on the aircraft, c/n 106, which now has its fuselage complete, with wings and tail fin attached.
The Belgian and Luxembourg governments signed a contract for eight A400Ms in 2001, of which seven are foe the Belgian Air Force and one for Luxembourg. The first aircraft, the one for Luxembourg, will be operated on behalf of the country by the Belgian Air Force and based at Brussels-Melsbroek Airport.
The first delivery is scheduled for May 2020. The remaining seven will all enter service by 2022.
