IRAQ HAS received the final batch of Five F-16s at Balad Air Base, where they arrived yesterday, May 3, to join the 9th (Fighter) Squadron.  They comprised F-16C Block 52s 1615, 1625, 1632,1633 and 1636, which were welcomed by Iraqi Air Force (IqAF) commander, Lieutenant-General Anwar Hamad Amin.  This was the eighth and final batch to arrive at Balad.

As previously reported on Warnsey’s World, the first four aircraft (two F-16Cs and two F-16Ds) had arrived at Balad on July 13, 2015.  The most recent delivery, prior to yesterday, had been on April 6, when six aircraft were delivered in.  In total, the IqAF ordered 36 of the type (28 F-16Cs and eight F-16Ds) and has lost two aircraft to date, both during training flights in the USA.  The first was F-16C 1609 on June 24, 2015, followed by F-16D 1605 on September 5, 2017, the respective pilots being killed in both accidents.
