Final 374th AW C-130J-30 Delivered to Yokota

TRANSITION OF the US Air Force’s 374th Airlift Wing at Yokota Air Base, Japan, to the C-130J-30 Super Hercules has been completed with delivery of the final two aircraft to make up the full complement of 14 aircraft for the 36th Airlift Squadron ‘Eagle Airlifters.’  The final two, the 13th and 14th, both arrived at Yokota on April 27.  First to land was 06-8610 ‘YJ’, which was delivered in from Ramstein Air Base, Germany, where it had previously been operated by the 86th AW’s 37th AS ‘Blue Tail Flies.’  Touching down behind it moments later was 16-5841 ‘YJ’, which arrived after a ferry flight from the factory in Marietta, Georgia.

The full complement comprises the following, all with ‘YJ’ tail codes: 06-4633, 06-8610, 08-3177, 08-5692, 08-8604, 08-8605, 14-5807 ‘374 AW’, 15-5810 ‘374 OG’, 15-5813 ’36 AS’, 15-5817, 15-5833, 16-5838 ‘5 AF’, 16-5841 and 16-5843.  Nine of these came direct from the production line, with the balance being received from other USAF operators as part of the fleet rebalancing initiative.
