Brazilian Navy Orders Three H135 Helicopters

THREE AIRBUS Helicopters H135 light twin-engine helicopters have been order by the Força Aeronaval da Marinha do Brasil (Brazilian Navy) for operation by 1 Esquadrão de Helicópteros de Emprago Geral (HU-1 – 1st General Purpose Helicopter Squadron) at Base Aerea Naval São Pedro da Aldeia.  The contract was announced by the manufacturer on February 21.

They will be used for a wide range of missions, including special operations, troop and cargo transport, naval inspection, search and rescue and medical evacuation.  Two of the helicopters will be equipped with aeromedical kits.  The H135s may also be used in future to support Brazilian Antarctic Programme missions.  Additional equipment will include a cargo hook, emergency flotation system, winch and weather radar.  They will replace the UH-13 Esquilo (HB355F2) helicopters currently operated by HU-1.
